you're new to hand-drumming, the djembe is an excellent
place to begin.
Whether you're a completely raw beginner
or have some exposure to the drum, this class is for
you.
The
West African djembe drum has become the most popular
hand-drum worldwide, and is very accessible to learn
to play. You find them in schools, in friend's houses,
and on stage. Learn the language of the drum, pulse
exercises, technique and rhythm patterns.
Vocalizing
rhythms and visual aids are used to help you find
your place in the beat. Relaxing and energizing! Usually
offered as a 1 to 2-hour workshop. Pre-teen thru adult.
Drums available for in-class rental and purchase.
This workshop is almost always offered at our store in Nokomis, Sarasota County, Florida, at the beginning of each season, followed by a weekly series for those who wish to continue with their djembe lessons. Sometimes it's also offered in other areas of Sarasota County, and beyond. We welcome your assistance in bringing it to your neck of the woods!
