Introduction To The Frame Drum Procession For Women

Instructor: Barbara Gail

Join the powerful rhythm circle of women, on the drums of ancient priestesses! Re-balance in the pulse meditation, then learn the language and deep feminine history of the Riq (tamborine, a drum of ceremony and celebration), playing technique, and rhythms.

Relaxing, healing, connecting, experience the beauty, magic, and pleasure of ritual and processional drumming in the tradition of Layne Redmond. Usually offered as a 3 hour or 5 hour workshop. Absolutely no experience is needed, and all teenage girls and women are welcome.

This serves as a prerequisite to join Moonrise (when specified); it also stands as a wonderful workshop experience unto itself. Also appropriate for Moonrise members who need to strengthen foundational skills if we haven't seen you in a year or so. Drums provided and available for purchase.

"I enjoyed your workshop very much, and I learned some techniques for drumming which I'm very pleased about. I love this new instrument, and I hope soon to have more classes or workshops wtih you on the frame drumming technique. I want to become as comfortable playing the drum as I am dancing. You are very talented and inspiring, I'm happy to have met you."
—Particpant / Instructor, Middle Eastern Belly Dance
